Joseph O. Wong founded JWDA (Joseph Wong Design Associates), a San Diego-based design firm, in 1977 to provide excellent professional services in  architecture, planning, and interior design. JWDA has been recognized with  numerous international, national and local awards of excellence, such as the AIA  Honor Awards, National Design-Build Institute Honor Awards, PCBC Gold Nugget Grand Awards, and other International Design Awards.  

Some of Joe’s recent design projects include Greystar’s 525 Olive Tower (Bankers Hill San Diego) and Belmont Senior Housing Tower (UTC, La Jolla);  Bosa’s Diega Tower (617 units, 41 stories, Downtown San Diego) and Civic  Tower (58 stories, Downtown Seattle); Palisade at Westfield UTC (300 units, La  Jolla); Trammell Crow Residential’s Simone Tower (395 units, 36 stories, Little Italy San Diego); Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas; Father Joe’s Villages St. Teresa de Calcutta Villas (407 units, East Village San Diego); Broadstone  Makers Quarter (269 units, East Village San Diego); Weingart Tower (300 units  Affordable Housing, Downtown Los Angeles) and Toll Brothers’ Lindley Tower (422 units, 37 stories, Downtown San Diego). 

Joe brings over 45 years of design experience to the firm. He received his  Bachelor and Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Master of  Landscape Architecture from Harvard University. He has served on the Board of  Directors for the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC), a San Diego  Redevelopment Agency. He currently serves as a member of the Dean’s  Advisory Council for UC Berkeley, College of Environmental Design. 

Joe is a registered architect in several states. In 2003, he was elected to the  American Institute of Architects College of Fellows in recognition of his  contribution to architectural design and practice.
