Undergraduate Resources

The Department of Urban Studies and Planning offers a variety of resources for current and prospective students as well as alumni.

USP Department Undergraduate Blog

One of the main ways the USP Department communicates opportunities with students is via our Undergraduate Blog.  There are separate pages for general information (main page - includes student org announcements, dept and campus events, professional association events, campus resources, and more), internship opportunities, full-time opportunities, and scholarships.

You can subscribe to the blog which will notify you of general information blog posts (only updates to the main page).  We recommend you bookmark this page and visit it regularly for updates on internships, jobs, and scholarships.

Student Organizations

There are five student organizations affiliated with the USP Department that we encourage students to participate in: Architecture @ UC San Diego (ARCH), Triton Real Estate Organization (TREO), Urban Changemakers, USP Student Representatives, Young Planners Society (YPS).

Participation in a student organization enriches the college experience, providing opportunities for professional development, personal growth, and social engagement.

Careers & Internships

We encourages students to start thinking about their career early in their academic program. The USP Department's Director of Industry Relations and Student Professional DevelopmentJennifer Eller, is available to help USP/RED students and recent alumni with career exploration and development via one-on-one advising, professional development tips, career exploration resources, a resume template and tips, workshops, events, and resources for searching for an internship or entry-level job.

USP Undergraduate Newsletter

The USP Undergraduate Newsletter is sent to all currently enrolled USP and RED majors and minors.  It typically is sent out on Fridays of odd weeks (week 1, week 3, etc) during Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. Non-USP students can sign up to receive a copy of the USP Student Newsletter.  An archive of previous newsletters is also available for viewing.
