On Thursday, March 12th, 2026 UC San Diego's Department of Urban Studies and Planning hosted the 36th Annual Urban Expo!


The 36th Annual Urban Expo, hosted by UC San Diego’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP), showcased the innovative ideas shaping the future of our cities.

This signature event celebrated the creativity, insight, and impact of graduating Urban Studies & Planning and Real Estate & Development students through their research and capstone projects, each addressing real-world urban challenges and opportunities.

Event Program:

  • 4:00 PM: Ballroom opened; student work on display
  • 5:00–6:45 PM: Student and class presenters were onsite to discuss their work
  • 6:45–7:15 PM: Continued reception

Location: UC San Diego Price Center West Ballroom

In addition to capstone projects, the Expo featured presentations from DUSP student organizations, including:

  • Architecture at UCSD (ARCH)
  • Roger's Community Garden
  • Triton Real Estate Organization (TREO)
  • USP Student Representatives
  • Urban Changemakers
  • Young Planners Society (YPS)

Attendees also explored the work of DUSP-affiliated research centers, including the UCSD Homelessness Hub and Labor Center, along with student projects from courses in design, architecture, planning, real estate development, site analysis, and sustainability.

The event brought together students, faculty, and the broader community to celebrate innovation, collaboration, and the next generation of urban thinkers shaping the future of the built environment.


Awards

The Department of Urban Studies and Planning is proud to offer a number of awards to both our graduating seniors as well as our continuing students. Most awards are nominated.  Award winners will be celebrated during an Awards Banquet on Friday, April 10th, 2026.
