Diego Velasco

Diego is a Mexico City born / San Diego raised designer who has been practicing urban design and planning in the San Diego region for more than 20 years. Over this timespan, Diego has worked closely with multiple communities in San Diego and across California. His work spans all scales and contexts, from affordable infill housing to campus planning, specific plans, master plans and design guidelines for private sector and public sector clients alike. As a practicing architectural designer, a Certified Planner, and a teacher, Diego advances our region’s conversation about urban design through work that is grounded in the community. He has extensive involvement in the planning community, and is acting Section Director for the American Planning Association San Diego Section.
