The Bioregional Center


The UC San Diego Bioregional Center for Sustainability Science, Planning and Design brings diverse people and organizations together to collaboratively study and equitably improve how neighborhoods, cities and regions function.

The Bioregional Center is currently involved with several large grants and programs focused on civically engaged research, green infrastructure and affordable housing in disadvantaged communities, and the nexus between local food systems and local economic community economic development.

Many USP faculty and students are involved with the efforts of the Bioregional Center.


MetroLab Network


UC San Diego is a member of MetroLab Network, which includes 41 cities, 4 counties, and 55 universities, organized in more than 35 regional city-university partnerships. Partners focus on research, development, and deployment (RD&D) projects that offer technological and analytically-based solutions to challenges facing urban areas including: inequality in income, health, mobility, security and opportunity; aging infrastructure; and environmental sustainability and resiliency.
