Global Seminars
WHAT ARE GLOBAL SEMINARS?
UCSD Global Seminars are 5 week long, summer study abroad experiences led by a UCSD professor. Students enroll in 2 English-taught courses (8 UCSD quarter units) and class sized are between 15-28 students. Global Seminars provide a unique way to earn credit for your major, minor, GEs, or college requirements, all while exploring a new country and culture. Open to ALL majors.

- Learn more on the Global Seminar Website. The list of offered Global Seminars is usually released in June with the following year's offerings (ie updated in June 2024 with Summer 2025 offerings).
- Attend an info Session or meet with an advisor
- Apply for financial aid and scholarships
- Apply online
- Wondering if a Global Seminar class can fulfill a USP/RED major or minor requirement? If the class is not listed as an approved option for a major/minor requirement be sure to submit an Undergraduate Petition to the USP Department ahead of time to determine if the class(es) can count towards the requirements.

COURSES
APPLICABILITY TO USP AND RED PROGRAMS
- USP 171GS counts as an upper division elective for USP and as a foundation course for RED. It also counts as an upper division elective for both minors.
- USP 183GS is the international version of USP 177A and can count as 1) a technical elective for both majors, 2) or if a student has already completed USP 177A then USP 183GS can also count as an upper division elective for both majors, or 3) as an upper division elective for both majors.
