North Park Main Street

North Park Main Street is a non-profit community based revitalization effort focused on arts, culture, and entertainment uses for the historic retail district measuring 2 blocks by 10 blocks. North Park Main Street is a city-recognized, professionally-managed Business Improvement District; a nationally-designated Main Street neighborhood networked with over 1,200 revitalizing commercial districts across the United States; and a volunteer-based program linking the vision of business, building owners, and neighborhood residents. ;

San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce

The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, established in 1876, is the leading advocate for the San Diego business community. The Chamber is a membership organization dedicated to meeting the identified needs of the metropolitan business community by fostering economic opportunities and a favorable business climate. Small, medium, and large businesses participate in Chamber programs and events that benefit the entire business community and enhance the region as a whole.

O'Farrell Community School

O'Farrell is a restructured charter school that has a multitude of opportunities for student interns. It is a middle school with 1,500 students (grades 6-8) with a full service, social service center right on campus. 

Environment

County of San Diego, Department of Public Works Recycling Section

The recycling section of this county division is responsible for promoting recycling and solid waste reduction in the unincorporated area of the county. The population of this area is approximately 450,000 and is geographically diverse. 

Environmental Health Coalition

Environmental Health Coalition (EHC) is a San Diego/Tijuana non-profit environmental justice organization dedicated to the prevention and cleanup of toxic pollution threatening our health, our community, and the environment.

Planned Parenthood is a non-profit, private organization whose mission is to provide accessible reproductive health care to both men and women.

Housing

The Fair Housing Council of San Diego

The Fair Housing Council of San Diego opened its doors in 1989. Opening doors—that have been illegally closed—is the specialty of this private, non-profit, and community based organization. The mission of the council is to eliminate unlawful housing discrimination in the housing rental, sales, lending, and property insurance markets on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status (children in family), disability, or other state prohibited basis.

Public Service Organization

International Rescue Committee

The goal of IRC is to help identify and design a Social Enterprise for the International Rescue Committee. The objectives of this project are twofold: 1) to create a source of earned income as part of a strategy to diversify the IRC’s revenue base 2) to further the IRC’s social mission by providing employment preparation and creating transitional and permanent job creation to newly arrived refugees in San Diego.

KGTV / Channel 10

Television station. Channel 10’s Creative Services internship provides students an opportunity to experience all aspects of television promotion.

Union of Pan Asian Communities

Private non-profit community based organization serving Asians and Pacific Islanders and other ethnic communities. Programs include mentoring, counseling and treatment, economic development, refugee assistance, and more. 

Social Services and Policy Analysis

League of Women Voters of San Diego (LWVSD)

The LWV is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, promotes understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

County of San Diego Alternate Public Defender

The Alternate Public Defender, primary parent office, is a legal office that represents any parents who finds themselves in the dependency system. When a family finds itself in crisis and needs legal representation, our office works to represent the legal and social interests of the primary parent in the family unit. We offer legal and social direction in the midst of critical family events.

San Diego County Taxpayers Association

Considered one of San Diego's most influential public policy institutions, the SDCTA is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting cost effective and efficient government. Since its founding in 1945, SDCTA has spent the past six decades saving the region's taxpayers millions of dollars, as well as generating objective, factual analysis to assist the public in making informed decisions on ballot measures. The San Diego County Taxpayers Association (SDCTA) internship offers undergraduate the opportunity to actively participate in local public policy research and analysis.

United States Pretrial Services

Federal Law Enforcement Agency whose responsibilities are to collect, verify, and report to the judicial officer, prior to the release hearings, information pertaining to the pretrial release of each individual charged with a felony Class A misdemeanor federal criminal offense. Additionally, we recommend pretrial release conditions and supervise any defendant released into our custody.
